Since 2017, the “Ueno Artist Project Series” has been developed, which introduces contemporary artists who are active in public recruitment organizations by setting a theme every year.
This year, the third edition, will be held under the theme of “A look toward children”.
Children have captured the hearts of many writers as an attractive motif.
In childhood, everyone experiences, and artists create works with their own thoughts.
Various images of children are layered there, which leads to the “feelings for children” in the audience.

2nd Edomachi-Taito Entertainment Festival Geirakusai
~Summer Team~ Opening Event Coverage Report

Takenodai Plaza of Ueno Onshi Park (Fountain plaza)

Last year, the popular “Edomachi-Taito Entertainment Festival Geirakusai” was held again this year.
It is a cultural event full of emotion that allows young and old people to feel the various arts and art culture that have been protected and nurtured by their predecessors, such as smart, rich humanity, and enterprising spirit.

Honorary advisor is Beat Takeshi, the same as last time.

Starting from the opening event on August 18, the summer team will be held from August 18 to October 26, 2019, and the winter team will be held from January to February 15, 2020.
So, this time, we interviewed the opening event.

Mahha speed gousokkyu & Monrose

The event's frontier was Mach Speed's fast-paced ball that won the championship at the “Beat Takeshi Cup Mansai Nippon No. 1” held in January 2019. The short contest was performed for 10 seconds, 30 seconds and 1 minute. Tasteful tongues, fast-paced bokeh and tsukkomi with masochism about their name recognition at important points, and a talk invite a pleasant laugh from the venue.

Mahha speed gousokkyu

Next up is the runner-up Monrose, who competed with them in the Beat Takeshi Cup. Two contrasting men, who have a modern weakness and a full-blown heat, show off the teppanya “Director of Weak Baseball Club” and attract their own laughter.

Monrose

In this way, two young entertainers who got on the wave this year excited the venue, and the spark of “Edomachi-Taito Entertainment Festival Geirakusai ~ Summer Team ~” was started.

Shakuhachi performance (Mr. Kinohachi)

Kinohachi, who has inherited the shakuhachi school of “Kinko-ryu” that has continued since the Edo period, is from Negishi, Taito-ku. He started blowing shakuhachi instead of toys at the age of 4 and later studied under Takahisa Mitsuhashi.
After his solo debut in 2003, his talents have been demonstrated in composition activities such as stage, Kabuki, and movies, and it seems that his life work includes performing votive performances at temples and shrines throughout the country.
Looking abroad, he has been active in overseas performances such as London, Moscow, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Crimea, New Zealand, Beijing and Shanghai, and is one of the Japanese culture senders.
This time, I will make it sound in my hometown Taito-ku.

Mr.Kinohachi (left), Mr.Jun Takeuchi (right)

With the violin performance of Jun Takeuchi-san, the venue will be surrounded by a godly and mysterious mood. Not only adults, but also the tone had the power to stop the feet of small children who were just eager. While respecting tradition and formality, it was such an attractive performance that does not forget modern playfulness.

Dance performance from New York (Global Art and Culture Exchange Mai)

“Global Art and Culture Exchange Mai” is centered on Miho Imoto, a stage actress who is also active in Broadway in the United States, and is also active in interactive workshops and international cultural exchanges through entertainment called dance. Is a performance group.

Global Art and Culture Exchange Mai

I am particularly good at theater dance, and this time I tried to incorporate sign language into the dance. After all, the main feature of this dance is the dance performance on the song of the rock band QUEEN, which is named after the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Everyone is enthusiastic about a powerful and dynamic dance. Along with the tune, clapping also begins, and the venue is exciting.

Dance performance with sign language

ROLLY & Kaori Muraji (Talk show)

ROLLY, a musician who loves QUEEN, and Kaori Muraharu, a classical guitarist who is also active as a tourism ambassador, talked about the movies “Bohemian Rhapsody” and QUEEN.

Ms. Kaori Muraji (left), Mr. ROLLY (right)

The most impressive episode was when Brian May played the guitar using a coin instead of a pick when playing the guitar.
A number of songs were born from the combination of British picks and coins, which is a 1-yen coin in Japan.
Your QUEEN love talk will not end.
And this time, they also performed a session of the QUEEN medley of their selection.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" movie screening

Last year, the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” was the biggest movement in the world, not just in Japan, and won the 91st Academy Awards in 4 categories.
This work was screened on a large outdoor screen set up in Ueno Onshi Park with the highest quality sound equipment.
Along with the screening, the eyes of many visitors gathered at the venue were poured onto the light projected from the truck loaded with screening equipment.

The sun set, and the heat should have only left the heat accumulated in the concrete ground, but as the scene progressed at the venue where the cheering screening was OK, the enthusiasm again filled with hot cheering and singing by QUEEN fans It was.
It looks more like a live venue than a movie theater.
Ueno on this day became hotter than usual.

The 2nd Edomachi-Taito Entertainment Festival Geirakusai, which started in this way, will be followed by a variety of cultural events such as movies, performing arts, and theater.
Why don't you visit the venue to see, listen to, laugh, and see the popular performing arts that have been nurtured in the region and the sophisticated styles and traditions that have been nurtured in the community, by inviting everyone around you? Uka.

Tokyo National Museum Held the 6th “Asia Journey Through the Museum”!

Tokyo National Museum

The 6th “Journey of Asia at the Museum” will be held at the Tokyo National Museum from Tuesday, September 10 to Monday, October 14, 2019.

“Museum in Asia” is the 6th annual event of the Tokyo National Museum this year.
Set in the “Toyokan” where oriental arts, crafts and archaeological artifacts gather, different themes are set up every year.

This year’s theme is “Love”.
Because love is a fundamental human emotion, its objects and forms of fellowship vary.
There must be individual answers about the relationship between love and sex and the difference between love and love.
This time, as the title of “Love Love Asia” *, we will introduce various works on the subject of love and explore how people in Asia have captured and expressed love more than ever before.

* It is officially written as “LOVE Love Asia” (“Love” is a heart symbol).

The idea of a man and a woman is drawn that if the rooster doesn’t ring, the morning won’t come, and then they can stay together forever.

* In India, various kinds of love have been expressed in the form of miniature drawings. Some of the works in this exhibition include sexual expression. Please note.

However, life is difficult because of the poor family environment, and he was said to have been sent to the ministry from an early age.

One of the company’s customers, Owariya Kanbei, was a toy dealer that handled floats, telescopes, peep glasses, and dolls.
With the opportunity to draw eyeglasses there, Orai studied under Yui Ishida, who was cultivating the flow of the Kano school, and learned the perspective method of Western painting through eyeglasses. I refined the technique of painting.

The name will be called “Orai” from 1766 (Maywa 3).
And while meeting Yuten, the master of Mitsui-ji Enman-in Temple, and receiving various orders, he produces a number of masterpieces and continues his career as a painter.

A sketch (drawn sketch), which is created during this period and reflects the raw life.
In the era when the basics of painting at that time were only Yamato or Chinese paintings, Orai’s live-action paintings were simple and easy to understand, and would spread the paintings as familiar to the common people.

Fascinated by such a friendly and free-spirited painting style that is not bound by old traditions, there are many introductory students from all over the country, and in the 1780s, a leading school called the Maruyama school was formed and it became a school that can organize workshops I will continue.

What are Maruyama and Shijo factions?

Along with the Maruyama school, there is the “Shijo school” in the school centered on Kureharu, who studied at Yosyo-an village and later studied under special circumstances.

The Shijo school is a painting school named after , Goshun and his disciples who lived around Shijo-dori in Kyoto.
Because the artistic style of Goshun is influenced by Okyo, the two schools of Maruyama and Shijo are called “Maruyama / Shijo” as the two major schools, and the mainstream of Kyoto since the early days. It has a great influence on modern Kyoto art and has been handed down to the present day.

The highlight of the exhibition

By following the genealogy from Okyo, Goshun to modern times, this exhibition approaches the full picture of the Maruyama and Shijo factions, and reveals part of the Kyoto picture platform, which is an important part of Japanese art history. There are roughly 4 chapters.
The number of exhibitions is about 100, including 8 important cultural properties and 2 important works of art, making it the largest exhibition ever.

The most noticeable thing is the three-dimensional display of Daijoji Rie, which is called the last masterpiece of Okyo Maruyama.

“Daijoji Lacquer painting” has a breathtaking scale. The light changes the density of the ink. Please see from various angles.

Maruyama Okyo “Pine and Peacock Diagram” Kansei 7th year Important Cultural Property Hyogo / Daijoji Collection Tokyo Exhibition only for the full year.

In addition, we will also introduce 32 paintings by painters who follow the “Maruyama / Shijo school” system, which is followed by Goshun, Syurei Yamamoto and Kameoka Kirei.

Goshun “Cultivation of Four Seasons”, Kansei 7th year (1795) Important cultural property

( Foreground ) Kirei Kameoka “Tairen Drawing” Late Edo Period Important Cultural Property Hyogo / Daijoji Collection ( Back ) Shurei Yamamoto “Shonen Gyoen” Late Edo period work Important cultural property Hyogo / Daoji Temple collection

One of the highlights is that only the first part of the Tokyo exhibition will have an important art piece “Eguchi Kimitzu” on display.

Maruyama Okyo’s “Eguchi Kimitzu” is one of the few beautiful Oijo pictures.
A special feature is that the renowned figure is drawn with a solid human body composition.
The way the hair falls off from the top of the hair is reproduced naturally.

Photo (left) Maruyama Okyo “Eguchi Kimizu”, Kansei 6th year (1794) Important Art Works Collection from the Shizukado Bunko Museum * Exhibited only in the first half of the Tokyo exhibition. 1875 (Meiji 8)

Only the Tokyo exhibition is also on display for the newly discovered work, “Fish Seafood”.

“Seafood” is on the left of the photo. A total of 28 painters, who occupy most of the Maruyama and Shijo factions, draw seafood on one screen. Although it is drawn by 28 people, at first glance it is interesting that it is harmonious as if one painter is drawing.
In the center of the photo, “Matsutora” is a work depicting a representative tiger from the Kishi group that steps on the Maruyama system.

Summary

The Maruyama / Shijo faction is vague in its definition of which is the Maruyama faction and which is the Shijo faction, and experts cannot judge.
There is no change in the Maruyama and Shijo faction, so there is no expression that makes Maruyama Okyo’s sketchy or strange, and it is gentle.
Therefore, it is important to appreciate the gentle changes and differences in the styles of each piece without thinking about difficult things.

The Maruyama-Shijo school has nurtured Kyoto’s unique culture against the Edo culture that evolved with rapid changes.
Why don’t you touch the works of Maruyama and Shijo at the University of Tokyo Art Museum?

【From 7.20 (Saturday) held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum】 Yasuko Iba Exhibition

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

From July 20, 2019 (Saturday) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno, the “Iba Yasuko Exhibition” will be held. [Until October 9 (Wed)]
The press preview of this exhibition was held the other day, so this time we will deliver the report.

About Iba Yasuko Exhibition

Yasuko Iba

Yasuko Iba is fascinated by the world with her own eyes and motifs as a painter, and continues to express the scenery of itself by drawing texture motifs and light that it would like to touch Yes.
The creative style is based on photographs taken by myself, and in the 2000s , the motif was mainly bedding and dishes.
Also in recent years, the style of production has not changed, but the distance to the motif that was approaching has gradually increased.
The interest in the landscape gradually increases, and by expanding the perspective to the surrounding space, the Iba work shows new developments.
At this exhibition, video works have been presented as prints and new attempts, including paintings drawn from photographs taken at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

Since the solo exhibition in 2009, "Iba Yasuko-The Place of the Wonder of the Day-" (Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art), the exhibition for the first time in a museum for the first time in 10 years "Aiko Iba Exhibition"
This exhibition brings to the core of unchanging interest along with the 10-year change of Iiwa Reiko, by displaying works in front of new development, focusing on recent works and new works.

Highlights of the exhibition

The highlight of the exhibition is three.

The first solo exhibition for the first time in 110 years at a museum in Tokyo

This is a large collection of works at major museums in Japan and abroad.
Its popularity is loved by many collectors as well as museums.
In this exhibition, we will display works from 2004, which will lead to recent works and new works, with the help of many holders who are carefully kept in private residences.
Usually, the collector's favorite work that can not be seen in the middle is a pleasure.

2 New exhibition center

The exhibition will be held for around three years from the spring of 2016, which was decided to be held, and will be exhibited focusing on new works such as paintings, prints and videos.
The paintings I drew from the photographs taken at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum were reborn through the lenses and hands of Iba, and brought new life to the architecture of Kunio Maekawa who designed the museum.

First Challenge for 3 Video Works

With a focus on painting and broadening her production activities, Iba is challenging the first video work this time.
Developed from paintings that draw a quiet space filled with light, it is an image work that makes it possible to be aware of various things that exist between human eyes such as the atmosphere, light, and atmosphere, and objects of things to be seen.

Introduction of exhibited works

Untitled 2018-02 Oil on canvas, artist's collection (cooperation: MA2 Gallery)

This work is drawn from photographs taken at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
Produced by putting a motif in an acrylic box.
The ambient light reflected from the transparent acrylic box and the light of the objects overlap in layers, creating a unique world.

Untitled 2006-07 Oil On Canvas Private Collection

The texture of the wrinkles that can be created after holding the cushion tight with both hands.
It seems that you can also feel the warmth of the people living there.
It is strange that when you look in front of the work, you will have the illusion that the work will come to light with light.

Untitled 2015-01 Oil on canvas artist collection (cooperation: MA2 Gallery)

The transparency of the glass, the gloss, and the shadows extending from the bowl are delicately expressed.
The pale cherry-colored background highlights the object.

depth # 2019 Video installation Random dot stereogram (crossed vision) / Random dot stereogram (Cross-eyed viewing)

One of Iniwa's new video works.
When using the left and right eye parallax to look at the screen using a three-dimensional object viewing method, an image appears.
It is interesting because the way people look at it also changes depending on the day.
Please take a look and feel with your eyes.

Summary

Yasuko Iba says, "I want to look at each work with eyes, feel even with the body, and have me wake up to my own past memories."

It senses the presence of invisible things from visible objects.
That is how I admire the Iniwa works.

Reiko Iiwa continues to challenge not only paintings but also new visual expressions such as images, while taking an object and a style that draws the light that it creates.
How about visiting this exhibition by all means?

■ What is a Kanji exhibition?

This year, the year of Reiwa, is the year that marks the 120th anniversary of the discovery of “Karaboku”, the oldest existing kanji .
This exhibition is the oldest kanji character “Kokaku Letter”, and a letter written by the first emperor of the nephew, a letter written on the bronze, from the collection of Nakamura innocent, who is a calligrapher and Western painter. It is an easy-to-understand commentary for children for the books of the characters appearing in “Sangokushi”.

■ Contents of the exhibition

The first exhibition floor on the 1st floor of the Calligraphy Museum has two large corners.
The first is a corner called “Ancestor of Kanji” .
In this section, you can learn the history of kanji in an easy-to-understand manner from the beginning of kanji shaped by various animals from the ancestors of Chinese kanji kanji.
The other is the corner of the ancient Chinese world.

(Left) Sheep (Square Letters First Stage Turtle Belly) (Right) Tiger (Squall Letters First Stage Cattle Scapula)
Skeleton (Square Letters First Term Tortoise)
武氏祠石闕画像銘(Bushishisekketsukazoumei)

On the 2nd floor of the exhibition floor, there are legends where kanji was invented , and various divination , bronze , and corners of characters written during the Shun-Autumn War States period and the Zen period.

蒼頡書蒼頡(soketsusho soketsu)
Isn’t there? Zen period · 13th century BC (from various divination corners)

In addition, the 2nd floor has a special exhibition room displaying characters from the Chinese Zen period, and a Nakamura Uncertainty Memorial Room. In the Nakamura Uncertainty Commemorative Room, there is a manuscript of the era of Chinese Han Dynasty and the oldest “Sangokushi” manuscripts and characters from the time of the Three Kingdoms, as the Little Three Kingdoms Corner.
(※ Manuscript is a handwritten copy of the document.)

In this memorial room, there is another exhibition about Shiki Masaoka, a haiku poet who had a close relationship with Nakamura.

That is said to be the only book of Zhuge Liang Genpakucho<Zhuge Liang (181-234) brush / Sangoku period shǔ · third century>
[Important cultural property] < This is a valuable exhibit that can only be seen up to 8/4>the third remnant of the Three Kingdoms .
Shiki Masaoka image Nakamura inflection / Meiji-Showa era 20th century

You can enjoy learning about the history of kanji at each corner.

■ I asked about the highlight.

We talked to Nobuhiro Nakamura, Senior Researcher at the Calligraphy Museum, about the highlights of the exhibition.

What kind of place do you want your child to enjoy?

I would like you to see the raw material that shows the origin of kanji.
I think that it is of great value to actually look at the lines of kanji in the material that seems to be vital to life for 3500 years, not photos but actually.

The first thing you want to see is the character of animals.
The pattern is, “Is that figure?”, “Face?” “How, how is it?”

In addition, it is a great strength to be able to overlook the history of kanji formation in such a small museum.
This is an exhibition where parents who can bring their children can also enjoy it.

What is your favorite display item by Mr. Nakamura?

It is a historical place. In such a beautiful state, the bronzeware with which the character can be seen is rare.
As this bronze display is only for this exhibition, it is a valuable opportunity.

■ Finally

Mr. Nakamura, the chief researcher at the Calligraphy Museum, said that “it was hard work to shake the total ruby to explain the exhibits because I introduced the exhibits from the perspective of elementary school students.”
The interesting and informative explanations were filled with the desire to convey kanji more vividly and happily to your child.
Would you like to come to the Calligraphy Museum with your family to hear such Mr. Nakamura’s story?

Such fun sentences written on the exhibit are also attractive. ~ From the corner of the legendary legend Kane Kanji Kanji

【Tokyo National Museum】 Special Exhibition “Three Kingdoms” preview

Tokyo National Museum
Guan Yu Statue Ming Era 15th-16th Century Shinsato City Museum

Tokyo National Museum from July 9 (Tuesday) to September 16 (Mon./Holiday), 2019
Special exhibition “Three Kingdoms” is held.
A preview for the media was held, so this time we will tell you how.

Manga, puppet show, games … taken up in a wide range of fields, showing a variety of development “Three Kingdoms”. The point of departure is the Chinese history of “Three Kingdoms” and “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, which continues to be loved by people in a long history, and its popularity in Japan still remains unnoticeable. Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Lu Bu … There may be a lot of people who are passionate about the life of large-scale warlords.

The slogan for this exhibition is “Real Three Kingdoms” . In the case of the Sangoku period where there are few data and many of the facts are mysterious, the combination of selected artifacts and the latest research results is close to its true image, and construction of a new tribe of unique archeology beyond the past three kingdoms The goal is

What is the Three Kingdoms?

“Shanhe-Zhang Fei” Haru Yusaku Qing Dynasty-19th Century Tianjin Museum

Han Dynasty which lasted about 400 years before and after. However, the bribery and eunuchs became corrupt by holding an experiment, and social order began to be disrupted, with the outbreak of the yellow band (184). The Han Dynasty asked for the power of the powerful lords in an effort to settle the turmoil, and in response to this request, the Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Sun Quan were recruited. Soon they set up a mochi, a mochi and a mochi, and the shape of the world three minutes will be settled here.

“Three Kingdoms” is a story based on the Sangoku period in which they were active. The story of the Three Kingdoms now prevailing in the world is based on the reading “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” , which has been written in many of its main points later.

That famous scene revives! Heroes in the Legend

At the beginning of the exhibition, we introduce paintings and murals depicting familiar scenes
A scene from “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” (“The Three Kingdoms’ Historical Map”, Museum of the Tianjin Museum). Person who understands what scene is considerable Three Kingdoms
Zhao Yun statue Qing Dynasty · 17th and 18th centuries Jinzhou City Museum

At the beginning of the exhibition hall, we display works based on the story of “Three Kingdoms” familiar to us. The appearances of the British players who have been burned in their minds from an early age are restored. This special exhibition “Three Kingdoms” is an exhibition that I want all beginners to see by all means, but this way of enjoying is a privilege of mania.

The above “Zhao Yun statue” is based on an episode of Aoyun that runs in the enemy’s arm in a single mount to help the Lord’s son who is left behind in the battlefield. It is a great scene of the “three kingdoms” inevitable. Although this work is considered to be a part of the decoration of the building, the sculpture is simple, but the form of batting on a horse while holding a baby is vividly expressed.

Exhibited original drawings of Mitsuteru Yokoyama’s “Sangoku-shi”
Kawamoto Kihachiro’s doll used in the puppet show “Three Kingdoms”
Zhang Fei’s weapon “Jabo” that appeared in the game. The serpent itself existed, but it is unclear whether it existed in the Three Kingdoms era

At the venue, along with “real” artifacts, he exhibited original drawings of the cartoon “Three Kingdoms” by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, and dolls actually used in NHK ” Puppet Show Three Kingdoms” by Kiharou Kawamoto. In addition, the characters of the highly popular game series “Sangoku Muso(Dynasty Warriors)” will also participate in the war, and will decorate this exhibition. Not only deep Three Kingdoms enthusiasts, but also Three Kingdoms beginners interested in various media can enjoy it in an easy-to-understand manner.

Now, to “Real Three Kingdoms”

Chapter 3 room that reproduces the battlefield where arrows fly
More than a thousand arrows were used
A “don” that shoots an arrow. So-called crossbow

Speaking of “Three Kingdoms”, it can not be said without the attraction of the battle. In the third chapter, we will display weapons from the three countries from Han and tell us “Real on the battlefield”.

When you step into the hall, it is decorated as if arrows were flying around the battlefield, as if feeling like a Battle of Red Cliffs ?!
The total number of arrows used is more than a thousand. The people who are stuck in the hull are real. The main weapons at that time were swords, katana, sylves, bows and arrows, but among them, stalks, which have a bow attached to their handle and trigger them to fire, have a strong killing power and played an important role.

Reproduced in full size, “The Cao Cao Mausoleum”

One of the features of this exhibition is a powerful exhibition space. The fifth chapter reproduces The Cao Cao Mausoleum You can experience the space in the mysterious tomb.

The Cao Cao Mausoleum was excavated in Anyang City, Henan Province from 2008 to 2009, and was originally named as Nishi Takaana No. 2 Tomb, but the location is consistent with the location of the Cao Cao Mausoleum in the ancient records Furthermore, because there was a stone monument with “Gibuou” pointing to Cao Cao as a burial product, it became certain to be Cao Cao.

Ginseng Late Han Dynasty · 2-3 centuries Gansu Museum
“Golden Beast Bond Metal Fittings” Gohan Period / 2nd Century Kotobuki Prefectural Museum
“Five Layer Granary” 1973, Chorusaku City Museum
The “Tiger-shaped Scorpio” (The Three Kingdoms, The Third Century Nanjing City Museum) was used in the great tomb of the temple.

In addition, the exhibition will feature about 160 latest archaeological findings from China. With the latest academic achievements, we are approaching the true image of the unknown Three Kingdoms.

The stage of the Three Kingdoms was from the period of the 184th year’s yellow band to the reunification by the 280 years of the Xizi Dynasty. It is strange that the story of just a hundred years or so is transcended, transcending the country, and being told.

The exhibition will be held from July 9 (Tuesday) to September 16 (Mon./Holiday), 2019 .
It seems that everyone knows, “real” of the Three Kingdoms that nobody knows.
Whether you are a beginner or a Three Kingdoms fan, be sure to visit the venue!

It is a product sales corner that I want you to see personally by all means. A series of familiar characters such as Mitsuteru Yokoyama “Sangokushi” and the game “Sangoku Muso(Dynasty Warriors)”

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum A new frontier of painter Iiwa, who is on the lookout for now! First in 10 years at an art museum, the first solo exhibition at an art museum in Tokyo!

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

From July 20th (Sat), "Iba Reiko Exhibition" will be held at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
<Period: July 20th (Sat)-October 9th (Wed), 2019: Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Gallery A, B, C>

Reiko Iba (1967-), fascinated by the artist's eyes and the world of motifs, has continued to express the scenery by drawing the texture and light that the motifs want to touch.
The style of making based on the photos taken by myself has not changed, but in recent years, the distance to the motif that has been approaching has gradually increased.
The interest in space and landscapes has increased, and the landscape around them has expanded, and the paintings of Iba have shown new developments. In this exhibition, we will present pictures as a new attempt, including paintings based on photographs taken at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
The private exhibition by Iniwa will be held for the first time in 10 years at the art museum since 2009, “Iba Reiko-The Place of the Day-” (Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art). By introducing recent works and new works as well as displaying the works before that time, we will approach the core of the unchanging interest of Iba Reiko as it has changed over the past 10 years. Prior to the opening ceremony, in addition to the video works that we have made our first challenge, we will introduce exhibition works and various events during the exhibition period.

【Highlight】
1, solo exhibition centered on new works
2, first challenge to video work!
A solo exhibition at an art museum that will be the first in three or ten years (the first solo show at an art museum in Tokyo!)
Details here https://www.tobikan.jp/en/exhibition/2019_yasukoiba.html
[Comment on the exhibition from Atsuko Iba]
I am very happy to receive a request for a new solo exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, just 10 years after the solo exhibition at the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art. On this occasion, I would like to try new things, and this time I am working on new works such as paintings, prints and videos.
The title says "Gaze", but we continue to produce while trying various "How to see". As I repeated the experiment, I could meet something beyond my imagination. By dismantling and reorganizing "seeing", you may come across new perspectives in everyday life. I hope you agree with that in this exhibition.
